5 Minute Makeup

Who else feels more productive when they get themselves ready for the day?! When I get dressed, make our bed, and put on a little makeup I am golden! I find myself much more motivated to get my daily tasks done.

I am a busy mama who is also on a med school budget. Lol!! So my daily makeup routine is simple and affordable! I am super excited to share with you guys!

LETS GET IN TO IT!

Step 1:

I always start with a fresh, clean face. I prep my skin by applying Rodan + Fields Hydration Serum, Lash Boost, and Eye Cream. ( I do not sell Rodan + Fields, but I love some of their products and have connections if you’re interested! )

Step 2:

I then use my concealer ( Born To Glow by NYX ) and apply that on any part of my face that could either use coverage or brightening. For me, that usually includes under my eyes ( mom bags, can I get an amen?! lol! ), the tip of my nose, and any blemishes I am dealing with.

Step 3:

Next up, my beloved BB Creme, also by NYX. I love this stuff because it is so light, but covers at the same time! Perfect for an everyday look. I place about a dime-sized amount on the top of my hand and apply it with my beauty blender. I gently tap it into my skin. I mention “tapping” because it’s very important that you’re not “rubbing” or “smearing” your foundation onto your face. You will waste a lot of product and your coverage will not be as good.

Step 4:

I personally prefer more of a “matte” finish. I always go in and set my face using a light weight foundation powder ( currently using No Filter by NYX ). I gently tap this onto my face.

Step 5:

This step is one of my faves! I love how the bronzer and blush work together to both sculpt and brighten your face! I always tell people to make a “kissy face” and wherever you see that little indention is where you want to go in with your bronzer to accentuate your cheek bones. ( I am currently using Butter Bronzer and I LOVE it! I can’t decide if I love it so much because it smells like summer or if it is because of the pigment! 🙂 I highly recommend. ) Next is blush and I always smile and apply this to the balls of my cheeks, just enough to look sun kissed! ( I am currently using Milani .)

Step 6:

Dear highlighter, I LOVE YOU! Lol! I am obsessed with the brightening action that happens when just the smallest amount of highlighter is applied. I simply apply this right above my bronzer and the tip of my nose in a sweeping motion. ( In the winter, I like the L’OREAL Illuminating powder. )

Step 7:

For an everyday look, I don’t fill my brows in. I just simply comb them and hope they stay in place! Haha! I have very low maintenance brows.

Step 8:

Mascara is hands down my favorite part! I feel like it completes any look. On days when I don’t even have time to do this whole routine, I’ll settle for just mascara. It makes me feel alive! Haha! When applying mascara, I always start by curling my lashes. I have very long lashes but they tend to grow very straight. I then go in with my mascara primer ( currently using L’OREAL Voluminous primer ) and apply a generous amount to every lash, making sure to start at the base of my eyelash. Then, while that is still wet, I go in with my mascara ( L’OREAL Voluminous ) and coat every lash, top and bottom. I always make sure to start at the base and make sure that my lashes don’t begin to clump together. I usually do two coats. 🙂

Step 9:

I don’t typically wear lipstick on the daily, but I ALWAYS moisturize!! Lip balm is my bestie. If I’m feeling very fancy, I may pull out some lip gloss. Haha!

Done!

For those of you who may not know, I am not only a mama! Before I had my son, I worked full-time as a cosmetologist and did both hair & makeup! I have a lot of fun ideas to share with you all, but thought my everyday routine would be a great place to start! I hope you learned a thing or two and I would love to hear about some of your must-have makeup products!
